Pick a date, a year or two from now.
What are you doing on that date?
Now try this:
What did you on that date? Wasn’t it great!
Write a journal of that day, and the incredible things that happened. Who would have imagined, just a few months earlier, that things could turn out quite this good? And just a year earlier… you’d have justifiably described it as “impossible”.
Fill it with detail. What colour was the sky that day? Where flowers in bloom, did leaves crunch under your feet? Did you smell the petrichor?
Now put your journal away. Destroy it, if you wish. It’s done its job.
Then in a week or two, do it again: change the future some more.
And see what happens next year.
This exercise is adapted from Weaving Fate by Aidan Wachter, which explains how to use a “Black Book” journal to change the future, alongside “The Corridor” and “The Fever Stone” to heal past trauma.
